Oris G. Bowen is Chief Executive Officer of UMatter Transportation, LLC. The vision for the company formed in 2017, after Mr. Bowen suffered a tragic accident and lost his sight. His Mission was to return to the workforce while helping others do the same.

Mr. Bowen shares the most devastating aspect of being blind is the first decrease in independence and overall quality of life. The occurrence gave him an intimate understanding of the obstacles faced by limited affordable and accessible transportation for simple quality of life needs and more importantly economic self-sufficiency.

 
Mr. Bowen has a wealth of experience in transportation services and with navigating the resources in the disability community. He formerly owned/ran a transportation business prior to becoming disabled. He was the first African American transportation business owner in Tennessee receiving a letter of recognition from President George H. W. Bush, Sr.

In addition, UMatter Transportation, LLC is the first transportation company in Nashville, TN, owned and operated by an individual with a disability (Blindness) certified by the Governor’s Office of Diversity Business Enterprise under T.C.A. § 12-3-1102(12) et. Seq. UMatter is the second transportation business founded and ran by Mr. Bowen. It is the finale of his personal success story and an inspiration for others in the disability community. Mr. Bowen takes part in various organizations and continues to be a strong advocate for the disability community
